Low Vibration Chainsaw Handlebars
We made our first half wrap composite handlebar for the Stihl 500i 3 years ago. It spent 13 months in the field with the operator reporting a significant reduction in vibration. This was made more obvious when he returned to using the stock alloy handlebar. We have now completed several full wrap and half wrap handlebars for various chainsaws. The target for these products are production fallers and any professional user spending enough time running a saw to experience vibration related injury. Our team can now make a handlebar for any chainsaw using the original alloy one from the saw. This ensures exact fit and use of stock mounting hardware. We have been using not only composites but other materials that have even better dampening characteristics than the carbon fibre.
Custom full wrap for Husqvarna 390. This is currently being field tested by a local faller.
This is the first of 2 made for Echo CS-501P. These are being used locally for glading ski runs.
Moving forward on this project we are doing several different measurements to gather data on the effectiveness of these handlebars. We are doing pre and post work grip strength and capillary refill to quantify the feedback we’ve already received. There are a multitude of modifications available to increase power and productivity of chainsaws with little if any addressing the ergonomics.
Feel free to contact us if you’re interested in purchase. We would appreciate that you participate in the collection of data. There are many variables involved in the vibration reduction and we feel we are vastly improved over the stock handlebar. Moving the harmful frequencies to as close to zero is the ultimate goal. Vibration injuries such as white finger can hopefully be drastically reduced or eliminated.
